Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist, IPTL Mechanical Engineer (Space Systems) to lead and contribute to the full lifecycle of space-based optical payload projects.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading engineering activities such as system architecture, requirements, design, integration, testing, and documentation.
  • Managing project execution, including schedule, resources, budget, and risk mitigation.
  • Overseeing material selection, manufacturing, assembly, and design for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA).
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Preparing technical and status updates for internal and external audiences.
  • Supporting program financial goals and aligning with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrating strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with 6+ years of relevant experience; advanced degrees or 10+ years of experience if no degree.
  • Experience in detailed mechanical design, product development, manufacturing, and MCAD tools.
  • Proven leadership in managing technical teams and project performance.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; experience with space payloads and integration is preferred.
  • Preferred skills include active Top Secret/SCI clearance, project management certification, and familiarity with optical, electrical, and space vehicle systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and customers, with attention to detail and strategic planning.
